~ Peggy ~

Peggy called me up.. for a favor last night
seems her and a John got in bit of a fight
He agreed to the price but, didn't want to pay
he busted her lip and drove away

I picked her up.. at the corner store
She got in the back, threw her purse down on the floor
Peggy's in the back seat with a needle to a vein
Trying like hell.. to ease the pain

Peggy used to be my young brother's wife
he was killed in an alley by a switchblade knife
They always lived rough, strung out on drugs
and those poor choices are catchin' up

I picked her up.. at the corner store
She got in the back threw her purse down on the floor
Peggy's in the back seat with a gun up to her head
she couldn't kill the pain.. she'd rather be dead

I told Peggy forget her wicked days
she gonna get herself killed, she keeps going on this way
She ain't ever sure... she wants to live or she wants to die
but, I still see life in her eyes

I picked her up at the corner store
She got in the back threw her purse down on the floor
Peggy's in the back seat, I think she's changed her mind
she's talking to Jesus with tears in her eyes

She's talking to Jesus.... with tears in her eyes

Peggy's in the back seat
